Personal Statement

My international research and teaching experience across Bangladesh, Europe, and North America has shaped my commitment to inclusive, accessible education and collaborative science. As a woman of color in STEM, I understand the importance of creating welcoming environments where all students can thrive.

I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of scientists, particularly students from underrepresented groups. Many students have shared with me that seeing someone who looks like them succeed in science has inspired their own academic journeys.

Beyond research and teaching, I value building supportive academic communities. My union leadership experience taught me the importance of advocacy, clear communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills that translate directly to creating positive, inclusive laboratory and classroom environments.

Apart from teaching and research, I enjoy traveling to new places. I have gathered many real life knowledge from the places I have visited in Europe, North America, and Asia. Traveling helps me to learn new cultures and value diversity - knowledge that I cherish and apply to my career. I also like to try new things - pottery, woodworking - in my spare time.
